When HCAC took over Khatessi's ownership, she received up-to-date vaccinations, tested negative for feline Leukemia and feline AIDS, and was showing good health overall. All she needs now is a family willing to give her the love she deserves.

"She's a very sweet girl and very outgoing," said HCAC Animal Facility Manager Andrew Hodnett. "She loves people and is very comfortable with being held."
For those wanting a relaxed lap cat, Khatessi is more than willing to fill that role. She had a fondness for people that could melt any heart.

There are implications for those who like to lay down food for the sporadic stray kitten or cat in their neighborhood. Andrew explained that, depending on your jurisdiction, humans would have legal responsibilities after a specific time of cats consuming leftover chicken and cans of tuna fish laid in the hope of persuading a stray.
"We always stress to people, 'if you're going to care for an animal, you'll assume ownership of the animal after a while,'" Andrew expressed.

Not only do local laws determining ownership and its responsibilities protect humans if a cat were to engage in some mischief, but it also protects the cats from abusive owners. Nevertheless, it also gives anyone laying food on their front porch that extra push to work hard to gain a cat's trust and make that very special bond official.
